Abstract: With the continuing development of biomedical diagnosis and therapy, a variety of new medical diagnosis and therapy methods have been established for providing greater guarantee of human health, among these methods, the application of nano-biotechnology in biomedical diagnosis and therapy plays an increasing role in our society, the research of developing new biomedical applications of traditional materials based on nanotechnology has become a new hotspot. Prussian blue is an ancient cheap blue dye which can be prepared easily. It has been widely used in many fields due to its advantages including outstanding stability, excellent physical, chemical, optical and magnetic properties. In recent years, Prussian blue has come into prominence in the field of biomedical diagnosis and therapy. It has been developed as a new type of nuclear magnetic resonance imaging contrast agent and photoacoustic tomography contrast agent successfully, and it also has been applied in drug delivery system and photothermal therapy. The application of Prussian blue nanoparticles in biomedical field has become an attractive research direction. This paper reviewed the application and progress of Prussian blue in biomedical diagnosis and therapy fields.
