Abstract: The effects of stress region size,distance between stress zone and core,thermal expansion coefficient in the core zone on the birefringence and stress distribution of erbium-ytterbium co-doped polarization maintaining fiberswere studied by using the full vector finite element method.By improving ultrasonic drilling,Boron rod polishing and vacuum packaging processing technology,the processing level of the erbium-ytterbium co-doped polarization maintaining fiber preform was greatly enhanced.Finally,the polarization crosstalk of fiber was controlled under-23,dB/10,m and the bire-fringence was raised to more than 3.9×10-4,which provides both theory and technology foundation for the preparation of high birefringence,low polarization crosstalk of erbium-ytterbium co-doped polarization maintaining fibers.
