Abstract: The buffer section arrangement as an important part of vents arrangement of semi-open city tunnel has a great impact on natural ventilation.Taking the tunnels of 1000 meters as the example, two-dimensional numerical simulation has been done in this paper by using FLUENT section of ANSYS. In the case of the same total open area of the tunnel ventilation holes, through changing on driving speed, length of the buffer section, vent spacing, multiple contrast calculations were performed to analyzed the changes of static pressure, dynamic pressure, wind velocity and CO concentration of the tunnel under dif-ferent conditions. The calculated example showed:in the case of the same total open area of the tunnel ventilation holes, the effect of natural ventilation is optimal when the ratio of the length of the buffer sec-tion to the length of the tunnel is 0.1 .
