The application of etomidate combined with propofol in painless gastroscopy and painless enteroscopy for elder patients

Abstract: Objective To observe the effect of etomidate combined with propofol in painless gastroscopy and painless enteroscopy for elder patients.Methods One hundred and twenty clinic patients of intravenous general anesthesia undergoing gastroscopy and enteroscopy were randomly allocated into two groups,with 60 patients in each group:study group（etomidated combined with propofol） and comparison group（propofol）.The mean arterial pressure,heart rate and blood oxygen saturation were recorded before anesthesia（T0）,1 min after anesthesia（T1）,5 min after anesthesia（T2） and after operation（T3）.The operation time,time to awake,time to answer the questions,time to ambulate freely and the adverse reaction were also recorded.Results The degree of decrease of MAP,Hr and SPO2 were alleviated at the point T1,T2 in study group compared with the comparison group（P< 0.05）,which had great statistical significance.The operation time,time to awake,time to answer the questions,time to ambulate freely were similar in two groups（P > 0.05） which showed no statistical significance.The rate of adverse reactions was lower in study group than in comparison group,the difference was statistically reat（P<0.05）.Conclusion The application of etomidate combined with propofol in painless gastroscopy and painless enteroscopy for elderly patients may stabilize the respiratory and circulatory function.It is more suitable for elderly patients.
