Abstract: Vygotskian sociocultural theory(SCT) has become an active approach to second language acquisition studies since the 1980 s.It first provides a thorough literature review concerning its fundamental concepts:mediation,internalization,zone of proximal development and activity theory.It then analyzes the domestic SCT studies,and further discusses its implication for SLA studies in China.
