Abstract: To explore how electronic storybooks and its interactive features influence children’s phonological awareness, letter knowledge and story comprehension under Chinese language circumstance,5-6-year-old preschool children in Hangzhou were investigated by using self-designed electronic storybooks through experiments. The results showed:( 1) The use of electronic storybooks could promote children ’s phonological awareness and letter knowledge more than the control group in daily teaching class, and the promotion could equal adult accompanied paper books reading.( 2) Compared with reading electronic storybooks alone, adult accompanied paper book reading worked better in story comprehension.( 3) When electronic storybooks were designed with animation and sound, there was no significant difference in low and high-interactions with their positive impact on children’s emergent literacy.
