Determination of Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers in Fish Oil by Liquid Chromatography and Negative Chemical Source Mass Spectrometry

Abstract: Determination of polybrominated diphenyl ethers PBDE-100 PBDE-154, PBDE-047, PBDE-099, PBDE-153, PBDE-209 and PBDE-028 in fish oil by high performance liquid chromatography mass spectrometry. Sample was extracted with normal hexane, purified by silica gel SPE. C18 column using methyl alcohol and water solution as mobile phase with gradient elute in multiple reaction monitoring( MRM) modes and quantitated by external standard method. Linear relationship between values of peak area and mass concentration of polybrominated diphenyl ethers was obtained in range of 1ng/m L-1000 mg/L. Lower limit detection of polybrominated diphenyl ethers was 1ng/m L. Recovery test was made by addition of standard polybrominated diphenyl ethers at 3 differert concentration levels to blank samples, values of recovery found were in range from 70% to 100%.Values of RSD(n=6) found were less than 10%. This method is simple, sensitive, accurate and repeatable.
