Abstract: A new iridoid glucoside, 5-[3-(1-Hydroxyethyl)pyridine],7-loganin ester(1) was isolated from the aerial parts of Pterocephalus hookeri, together with three known compounds, sylvestroside I(2), 8-hydroxypinoresionl-4′-O-β-D-glucoside(3) and 8′-hydroxylpinoresionl-4′-O-β-D-glucoside(4) by silica gel column and Pre-HPLC. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analysis, including HR-ESIMS, 1D and 2D NMR experiments. Compound 2 was an iridoid glucoside dimer. Compounds 3 and 4 were two tetrahydrofuranoid lignans. All the compounds were isolated from this plant for the first time.
