Textile Electrode Technologies Applicable to On-orbit Electrocardiogram Acquisition of Astronauts

Abstract: According to the requirements of the future manned spaceflight missions in China,textile electrode technologies applicable to long-term electrocardiogram( ECG) acquisition on orbit for astronauts were analyzed in this paper. Firstly,some problems in long-term monitoring of ECG signal using Ag / Ag Cl gelled electrodes were discussed. Secondly,the concept,type,and the development status of dry electrodes were introduced,and the technical characteristics of various types of dry electrodes were analyzed. Then,based on China’s manned space missions,the applicability of various types of dry electrodes was compared. It was found that the textile electrode,which was comfortable,wearable,washable,stable and integratable,was suitable for long-term ECG monitoring on orbit of astronauts. Finally,some key technologies of the textile electrodes were summarized and prospected.
