Simulation of Newly-Developed Vacuum Cryogenic Thermal Insulation Suspension Support for Superconducting Accelerator

Abstract: The stress and temperature distributions of the newly-developed vacuum cryogenic thermal insulation suspension support(POST),dedicated to and installed in the superconducting acceleration cryomodule of the Accelerator Driven Sub-critical System(ADS),was empirically approximated,mathematically modeled,theoretically analyzed in classical mechanics and thermal dynamics,numerically simulated in finite element method with software ANSYS,and experimentally tested under the operation conditions.The influence of the POST specifications,including but not limited to the mechanical and thermal properties of materials,structures of the constituent parts,loads and temperature,on the distributions of stress,temperature and stability,was investigated.The simulated results show that the novel POST meets all the stringent thermal and mechanical requirements.The calculated,simulated and tested results were found to be in fairly good agreement.
