Abstract: Nowadays, local universities are transforming to application-oriented universities under the guidance of national policy with their own characteristics, in order to better service regional economy. Under this background, the weakness of teacher’s practical teaching is becoming more and more prominent, which has been unable to meet the needs of the application-oriented talent cultivating. The paper analyzed the necessities and problems in the improvement of teachers’ practical teaching abilities and explored the strategies to improve teachers’ practical teaching abilities from the aspect of universities and teachers.
