Detection on dynamic viscoelasticity of full-size wood composite panels

Abstract: The dynamic viscoelasticity of full?size composite panels is an important inductor to characterize mechanical properties. At present, domestic and international detection methods and equipment are not capable of mearsuring full?size wood composite panels? dynamic viscoelasticity. In order to detect the dynamic viscoelasticity of full?size wood com?posite panels quickly, this paper presents a test method based on “free?free” supporting free vibration principle. The first order natural frequency of full?size wood composite panels supported in “free?free” condition, log of the coefficient of attenuation of vibration wave and the quality of wood composite panels were measured to detect the dynamic viscoelas?ticity of full?size composite panels. The dynamic viscoelasticity of 120 pieces of particleboard and plywood panels were tested using a laboratory testing apparatus for measuring mechanical performance of full?size wood composite panels. Fol?lowing free vibration testing, one small specimens were cut from each panel and cantilever vibration test was then per?formed on each specimen to obtain dynamic viscoelasticity. Then, comparing the test results of two kinds of methods, the results indicate that there is a very significant linear correlation between them, and the correlation coefficient of storage modulus and loss modulus of correlation coefficient is 0. 944 and 0. 956, respectively. It also proves that the detection method of the dynamic viscoelasticity of full?size wood composite panels based on “free?free” supporting free vibration principle vibration is feasible.
