Abstract: One of reasons why Russia faces economic woes is imported growth. This growth model has its historical contribution to stimulating investment, promoting domestic demand, reducing the national debt and enhancing ability to resist risks, but it also has three major drawbacks;firstly, continuously squeezing the space of "independent growth" made the Russian economy overly dependent on resources endowment;Secondly, distorting primitive motive of enterprises’ seeking- profit severely, and making Russia’s economy growth inefficient and incompetitive;Thirdly, the government regulation, which is confined to demand management, neglects the effects of supply management factors, such as optimal allocation of factors of production, economic structure adjustment and upgrade, and system transformation,on driving economic growth.Only learning from these mistakes and updating completely economic management thinking, introducing new mode of economic growth, can Russia be out of the economic dilemma.
