Research on performance of a novel double effect vertical concentric tubular solar brackish water desalination device

Abstract: A novel double effect vertical concentric tubular solar brackish water desalination device is presented in this paper. The design principle and structure of this device are introduced. An experimental investigation and performance analysis of this device are carried out. The variation of the temperature at every measured point on the device and the freshwater production rate are recorded under the condition of indoor electrical heating; an outdoor test is carried out too; a performance indicator GOR(defined as ratio of the condensation heat of water produced relative to the heat input)of the device in an indoor experiment is calculated. The experimental results indicate that fresh water production in multiple-effect mode can reach 0.39 kg/h with the input heat of 305 W in the indoor test.GOR of the device can reach about 0.84 under the condition of constant input heat. Fresh water production of the device can reach 1.25 kg/h in the outdoor experiment.
