Abstract: OBJECTIVE To investigate the distribution of Paris birmanica( Takht.) H. Li & Noltie and to analyze its chemical characteristics. METHODS The field investigation of distribution of P. birmanica was carried out. Samples were collected and its chemical characteristics were analyzed by HPLC. RESULTS A new record of P. birmanica was found in Gaoligong mountain of Yunnan province. This research described its morphological characteristics in detail. HPLC analyses showed that the chemical constituents were mainly dioscin saponins and pennogenin pennogenyl saponins. CONCLUSION The distribution is a new record of P.birmanica, and its chemical characteristics are analyzed for the first time. This work enriches the study information on P. birmanica and has important significance in the study of Paris of China.
