Abstract: To examine the anti‐sliding performance of cable clamps for suspension bridge main cables made up of zinc‐aluminum alloy coated steel wires ,the suspension bridge main cables of 37‐91φ5 .2 are cited as models to carry out anti‐sliding tests for cable clamps .The jacking and pushing force of jacks is used to simulate the downward sliding force of real bridge cable clamps ,by using the parameters measured during the sliding of cable clamps ,the anti‐sliding friction coefficient of the cable clamps of main cables made up of zinc‐aluminum alloy coated steel wires ,the porosity in‐side and outside of the cable clamps are calculated .The results of the test demonstrate that the friction coefficient of the zinc‐aluminum alloy coated steel wire is 0 .305 ,at this moment ,the po‐rosity inside and outside the cable clamps are 17 .4% and 19 .6% .The anti‐sliding friction coeffi‐cient gained in the test has greater reserve amount than the value prescribed in the design code ,and a value of 0 .20 is suggested for the future bridge design .Under the same design circumstance ,the design length of cable clamps can be reduced by 30% ,by this way ,the weight of the cable clamps can be reduced and the complexity of construction can also be decreased .
