Abstract: The literary translation and introduction occupied a particular prominent position in the magazine Critical Review. The major characteristic of this magazine is that it paid special high attention to the literary translation and introduction of the aesthetic thoughts and literary achievements in Greek and Roman times, which embodies its distinct classical taste. Critical Review also showed a similar elite awareness of classic preference, sense emphasis and pure art taste when selecting the literature works from other times or other countries. The humanist thought run through this typical choice of translation embodies a cultural construction idea of Critical Review editors which is widely different from that of the New Culture Movement leaders. This school and its magazine has made a supplement for other periodicals and schools in the aspect of translating and introducing western literature in the history of modern Chinese literature.
