Abstract: The research done in Sun Yat-Sen University on the relationship between professional education and their librarianship career of the undergraduate major in library science shows that librarianship practice is the key to establishing the students’ librarianship confidence as well as their professional identity. However, nowadays library science education pays more attention to theory than practice, thus leading to the lack of students’ professional recognition and confidence. And some of them even tend to refuse to choose it as their career. This reveals that library science education should establish and develop core courses, and attaches great importance to cultivate the students’ professional spirit. Moreover, library science education should pay attention to professional practice in order to help students seek their career orientation and improve their ’’hard’’ and ’’soft’’power.
