Efficacy and Complications of Transurethral Resection of the Prostate in the Treatment of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia in the Elderly

Abstract: Objective To analyze the efficacy and complications of transurethral resection of the prostate( PKRP) in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia( BPH). Methods Our Hospital of 100 cases of elderly patients with BPH. According to the sequence of admission time will the divided into two groups,observation group( 50 cases) use PKRP treatment and control group( 50 cases) using TURP treatment,compared to two groups of efficacy and complications. Results Compared with the control group,PKRP group the average operation time,continual irrigation time,indwelling catheter time,hospitalization time was shortened,the postoperative QOL in six months,IPSS,Qmax and PRV values improved significantly( P < 0. 05); the two groups had no electricity resection syndrome( TURS) and other serious complications. Conclusion PKRP is effective and safe in the treatment of BPH,and it is worthy of clinical promotion and use.
