Survey on Wearing Glasses Among Students of a Middle School in Changning District of Shanghai

Abstract: Objective To investigate the knowledge and correct use of glasses among middle school students in Changning District in Shanghai.Methods Students who wear glasses were chosen by means of a cluster random sampling.A self-designed questionnaire was used in the investigation.Results The average degree of myopic lens was(-2.8 ± 1.5) D.The students who had higher degree of myopic lens wear glasses more frequently(P<0.05).About 86.8% of students took off their glasses with one hand,which was accounted for the highest rate among all the bad glasses-wearing habits.The proportion of students who replaced their glasses once a year was 24.4%,only 47.6% of the students would go to the hospital or the optometry store to readjust spectacles.Conclusion There are many misunderstandings and errors in wearing glasses among middle school students.In the future more efforts should be done to promote the correct knowledge and using of wearing glasses as soon as possible using different approaches.
