Abstract: Since the end of World War II, there have been a large number of outstanding literary works and famous writers in the United States. J.D. Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye has been seen as one of the masterpieces in that era. In this novel, the primary narrator’s(Holden) language has many personalized features, forming a contrast with the historical background and inner thoughts of the protagonist Holden, which play an effective role in highlighting the literariness in works. This article will focus on the analysis of the language features of Holden.
