Abstract: Facing with the embarrassment of reducing academic credit and condensing credit hours, college English teaching in a local engineering university should develop its own features, satisfy the social needs and offer the service to our students’ future careers in the process of college English teaching reform. This paper tries to explore a practical teaching mode based on requirement investigation so as to find a sustainable method for our college English teaching.
