Physicochemical Properties of River Sludge and Its Application Research in Non- Fired Bricks

Abstract: By employing such methods as X- ray diffraction( XRD) and X- ray fluorescence spectrometer, this paper analyzes the chemical composition,phase and microstructure of river sludge and explores the possibility of fabricating non- fired bricks from river sludge. It then researches the influence of the proportion( river sludge as the base,sand,stone,or coal ash as the aggregate) on the properties of non- fired bricks. It concludes that the non- fired brick has the best mechanical properties when the weight ratio of cement and sludge is 1 ∶ 0. 7in the sludge- cement binary system and its compressive strength is higher than the national standard in MU20; when the weight ratio becomes 1 ∶0. 35∶ 0. 35 in the sludge- aggregate- cement ternary system,the highest compressive strength researches41. 56 MPa,the national standard in MU40.
