Abstract: The inlfuences of the porosity, basis weight, ash content, combustion agent content of cigarette paper on cigarette paper smoldering rate were studied. The results showed that the porosity has no inlfuence on smoldering rate. But the basis weight has a quite signiifcant inlfuence on smoldering rate, smoldering rate increases as cigarette paper basis weight increase. Ash content and the combustion agent content have a slightly effect on smoldering rate.
