Abstract: In order to investigate the mechanism of Astragalus polysaccharides(APS)on the Muscovy ducks infected with Muscovy duck reovirus(MDRV)and its immunological regulation, the experiments were divided into two parts, one was that APS on the prevention and control of MDRV cohabitation infection, and the other one was that APS on healthy Muscovy duck did not exposed with any virus. In result,MDRV promoted the secretion of IL-1,IL-2,IL-6and TNF-α,but inhibited the production of IL-4in the middle stage of the infection.Compared with the cohabitation infection control group,APS treatment at dose of 0.4g/L before infection delayed the appearance of clinical symptoms, relieved clinical symptoms and pathological changes, significantly reduced the mortality of the Muscovy ducks infected with MDRV.It could maintain IL-1,IL-2,IL-4,IL-6and TNF-αin the sera of the Muscovy ducks infected with MDRV within the normal range. The polysaccharide had two-way adjustment action on the immune, and it also can maintain the levels of IL-1,IL-2,IL-4,IL-6and TNF-αin the sera of the Muscovy ducks infected with MDRV and the healthy Muscovy ducks in dynamic equilibrium. In conclusion, the findings will provide a basis for prevention and treatment of APS on MDRV in clinical.
