Abstract: A deep-buried long water diversion tunnel is located in Holocene active fault zone. In order to analyze the stress distribution condition of the active fault zone, the in-site core drilling was conducted. Based on the core drilling data and by using Mohr-coulomb model, the distribution characteristics of initial stress field in the surrounding area of the tunnel was simulated and analyzed, and the stress distribution law was mastered. The analysis results showed that without support, the surrounding rock mass at the outcrop site of fault zone is prone to severe deformation, which affects the construction safety. It is suggested that the measures of advanced support and second support after excavation should be adopted to guarantee the construction safety.
