Abstract: Objective To understand AIDS related knowledge, behavior and infection status of HIV,hepatitis C virus( HCV) and syphilis among young students in Anhui from 2012 to 2014,and to provide basis for HIV/AIDS prevention strategies. Methods Multi-stage cluster sampling method was used. A total of 4 842 students from Anhui were recruited to the questionnaire survey and received serological tests of HIV,HCV and syphilis. Results The awareness rate of AIDS / HIV knowledge was 79.8%,with significant differences in investigation year( P<0.01). About 5.2% reported having sex,31.3% used condoms in the first sexual intercourse. The proportions of both using condoms in the last time and using condom every time in the past year were low in three sex partner mode; especially the latter was lower than 30% in temporary sex partner or commercial sex partner. About 3. 2% received HIV testing in the past year. The positive rate of syphilis was 0.04% and HCV was 0.12%. Conclusion The overall level of the awareness rate of AIDS / HIV and safe sex knowledge remains weak. Good quality sexual health and HIV / AIDS education is needed in order to improve health status of young people.
