Abstract: Energy consumption and materials consumption were analyzed in startup and shutdown processes of hydro-cracking plant. Energy saving and emission reduction measures were introduced in startup and shutdown processes. These measures included setting up reasonable process to reduce hydrogen emission, sealing cooking to reduce chemical odor, maximizing the recovery of materials according to the density difference, using steam jet pump to reduce nitrogen consumption, using reformer hydrogen in hydrogen tightness test and maintaining the wall temperature of reactors. The implementation of energy-saving measures reduced materials emission, fuel consumption and nitrogen consumption in startup and shutdown processes as well as reduce chemical odor and shorten the start-up time. Good results were achieved because of the implementation of energy saving and emission reduction measures.
