Abstract: The motion of buoyant flows often seen in fires is predicted by solvingthe basic equations of chemical fluid dynamics. Three different kinds of turb-ulence model and two numerical schemes are adopted respectively to study theeffects of them on predictions. A non-uniform mesh of exponential distributionis proposed and aproved to be useful in convergency. Predictions of distribu-tions of velocity and temperature and their variation with time are obtainedwith the recommended turbulence model and numerical scheme, which are in ag-reement qualitatively with experimental observations.
