Abstract: Strain C3368,a fungus isolated from a soil sample collectedin King George Island of Antarctica was found to produce the antibiotics. R-( - )-Bisdechlorogeodin(C3368-A) and Questin (C3368-B) .From taxono-mic studies on its morphological, cultural characteristics, this antibiotic-producing strain was identified as Chrysosporium verrucosum Tubaki C3368. Antibiotic C3368-A and B showed very strong inhibitory effect onnucleoside transport of tumor cell and nucleoside absorption of mouse spleen lymphocyte. It is a first example that from metabolite products of Antarctic soil fungi to find antibiotic having activity described above.
