Abstract: In shaking flasks, differentiation of mycelial cells has been observedduring different developmental stages of P.chrysogenium with contrast phase microscopy. There were several repeating life cycles respectively in seed and fermantation cultures. Every life cycle contained spore germination or mycelial ramification and segmentation,and formation of spore. It was found that growth of mycelial cells,changing of culture pH and penicillin biosynthesis are of correlation in accordance with rules of mycelia differentiation.
