Abstract: Using ELISA, affinity chromatogaphy and PCA etc immunological techniques, several kinds of anti-ampicillin antibodies, which had a slightly different specificity of antigen combining region of antibody, were found from the sera immunized by ampicillin preparations. Also the anti-penicillin serum could be divided into different fractions with a different charges by ion-exchange chromatography on DEAE-sephadex A-25. Each fraction had a diffeifent characteristic in antigen-antibody interaction. The variety of composition and content of anti-ampicillin antibody determined the specificity of a serum and made the sera had a very distinct heterogeneity. All kinds of anti-ampicillin antibodies were grouped under two categories PBO-ph-ile antibody with a high affinity to BPO antigenic determinant and poly-ampicillin-ph-ile antibody with a high affinity to ampicillin polymer, by PCA reaction. The interaction between the antibodies of different specificity and the antigens of different structure influenced upon the intensity of aaaphylaxis of ampicillin.
