Abstract: Reverse, phase HPLC/Diode Array Detector was used for further analysis of the synthesized rifampin N-oxide. The experimental result showed that the UV spectrum scanning at the apex of rifampin N-oxide peak was the same as that of parent material rifampin. Rifampin N-oxide and rifampin could be separated from each other by the established HPLC method (μ-bondapak C18 column with a mobile phase of 50% methanol in water and detected at 254nm).The purity of the peaks were checked by signal plus spectra, three-dimensional plots and isoabsorbance plots, which indicated that the synthesized rifampin N-oxide was almost constituted with a single component under the condition described in this paper and could be used as a reference substance for quality control of rifampin preparations.
