Abstract: Spiramycin produced by Streptomyces spiramyceticus A. sp. 799 is Subject to glucose catabolite repression. After the suspension of spores was treated by UV, we isolated the resistant strains which could grow on the medium contain ing 2 -deoxy-D-glucose. The mutaats obtained by above method produced much more spiram-ycin than those obtained by random screening after UV treatment. The productivity of mutants can be increased 78. 9 % in a certain concentration of 2 -deoxy-D-gluco-se.
