Abstract: The intercalation of China-made Adriamycin and Aclacinomycin A with HeLa cellular DNA was observed in this experiment. The drug-treated DNA was electrophoresed on agarose gel and photographed in UV fluoresene after ethidium bromide staining. When the drugs were intercalated with donble-strand DNA, The intercalated DNA will not be stained by ethidium bromide. The experiment shows that Adriamycin intercalated with DNA at low concentration (25μg/ml), wheareas Aclacinomycin A, the new anthracyclines antibiotic which is characterized with low cardiotoxicity, at very high concentration(400 and 800μg/ml). The difference of intercalation of these two drugs was discovered and discussed in this paper.
