Abstract: The present paper described a quantitative determination of the gentamicin components Cs by means of reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC).The method used a YWG-C18H37 10μm reversed-phase column, with a mobile phase composed of acetonitrile-methano1-0.1% tris-(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane (375:50: 105)and excitation wavelength was set at 340 nm and emission wavelength at 430nm respectively. Samples were derivatized with phthaldehyde as fluorescent derivatives. The flow rate was maintained at 1.8ml/min.The three components of gentamicin, C1a,C2,and C1 eluted as distinct peaks with retention times of 7.6,9.8 aad 12.4min respectively. It has been proved that the method is simple, rapid, with good precision and rep-roducibility.
