Effect of rotation rate on fatigue property of the friction stir weld for aluminum alloy used for sports equipments

Abstract: The electronic radiator products were welded by friction stir welding with three kinds of rotation rates. The microstructure, mechanical properties and corrosion resistance were tested and analyzed. The results showed that with the increase of rotation rate, average grain size in the nugget zone of the weld firstly decreased and then increased,the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance firstly improved and then decreased. Compared with the rotation rates of 300 r/min and 700 r/min, the rotation rates of 500 r/min could make average grain size in the nugget zone of the weld decrease by 67% and 40% respectively. And it could make the weld efficiency improve by 10.8% and 6.3%respectively. Moreover, it could make corrosion potential shift positively by 140 m V and 70 m V respectively.
