Coupling degradation of tar model compound naphthalene with direct reduction of iron ore for ironmaking

Abstract: This paper coupled biomass tar model compound degradation with iron ore direct reduction,which used iron ore as catalyst to promote the conversion of tar degradation and strengthen iron ore reduction. It selected tar model compound naphthalene, and investigated the effects of pyrolysis temperature,mass ratio of naphthalene and iron ore, iron ore particle size on the conversion rate of model compound, output of pyrolysis gas and reduction of iron ore. The results showed that: the conversion rate of naphthalene increased with the increase of pyrolysis temperature within the range of 600~1 000 ℃; The changes of mass ratio and iron ore particle size had a significant impact on the catalytic conversion of naphthalene; Conversion rate of naphthalene and reduction of iron ore could reach 84.5% and 78.5% under optimum operation conditions(ratio of materials at 1∶1, iron ore particle size at 74~98 μm, pyrolysis at 1 000 ℃ for 30 min),respectively.
