Abstract: Closely related to the development of contemporary Chinese history and national politics, the concept of"Mongolian nationality"[m■ηg■l ündüsüten]came into being. In modern Mongolia, the popularity and use of"nationality"([ündüsüten])was undoubtedly affected immediately by western capitalist countries, the Chinese domestic politics, Han cultural thinkers and Eastern countries such as Japan, Mongolia, and then Mongolian common people and elites accept this concept on the basis of traditional notions of blood, tribe, race, religion gradually while adding new meanings to them. In this paper, through the systematic study of contemporary Mongolian and Chinese literature, the author deeply analyzed the narrative form of"nationality"([ündüsüten])during the formation of nationalism in contemporary Mongolia and the complexity ambiguity of their social identification from the perspective of the sociology of knowledge.
