Abstract: An improved neighbouring tree disturbing model A. Li is described in the paper, meanwhile criterion and measuring method for determining basic tree and neighbouring trees are suggested. Data of different densities of Larix principis-rupprechtii plantations were used to reveal the relationships between disturbing index and the dbh, volume current annual increment, crown development and ratio of height to dbh of the basic tree and to inquire into the variation pattern of the disturbing index with the habit utilization efficiency of the basic tree. The results showed that the disturbing index was a quantitative index for evaluating growth situation of trees and position of trees in the forest.
