Abstract: By using classical compartment model theory, the single and multi dose phar-macokinetics of sodium sulfadiazine which was administered by intravenous bolusinjection and oral administration in chicken(n=15) has been studied. The diazotizingand coupling colorimetrywas used to assay drug concentrations in plasma. The re-sults showed that the concentration-time curves of iv. and po. conformed with thetwo-compartment model without absorption and the one-compartment model withabsorption, respectively. Their main pharmacokinetic parameters were t1/2a=0.11±0.99(h), t1/2β=5.3±0.8(h), V_B=0.5±0.12(1/kg), CL_B=67±20(ml/kg.h);t1/2a=1.2±0.4(h), t1/2k=6.2±2.9(h), t_o=0.46±0.29(h), t_p=3.4±1.1(h), V_B(po)=0.6±0.4(1/kg), CL_B=68±19(ml/kg.h), F=60±30(%). The dosage regimens ofthe drug administrated by iv. and po. in chicken, which were calculated accordingto pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic data, were D_o*=75(mg/kg), D_o=50(mg/kg, τ=8.2(h) and D_o*=200, D_o=159, τ=12, respectively.
