Abstract:
The macular foveal sensitivity of 70patients with glaucoma (70eyes ) and 100 normal individuals(100 eyes) were examined by Humphrey Field Analyzer. Although the central visual acutty in both groups were nom normal ( ≥1.0),the age matching data showed that the function of the macular fovealwas affected early in glaucoma( P<0. 01) ,and it mayoc-cur before occurrence of localized field defects. It is suggested that the decrease of macular foveal sensitivity could be a sign of early glaucomatous visual function damage. The reduced macular foveal sensitivity may associate with either a generalized damage in optic discora selective damage of papillomacular bundle.
