Abstract: Linguistic essence is one of the core problems in mordern linguistics. It is an important conclusion in mordern linguis-tics that linguistic essence is relation,and this is different from the atomism view. Relation is the soul of system, and system is a net-work which is composed by syntagmatic relation and paradigmatic relation. Linguistic essence is the base talking about other linguistic problems, and those problems are derived from the essence and prescribed by it.
