Abstract: The SiO2(Nano Silica(NS))particles were synthesized by the way of“Stober”and grafted with polyglycidol on its surface using anionic ring-opening polymerization. The samples were character-ized by Fourier Transfer Infrared Spectroscopy( FTIR),X-ray Photoelectron Spectra( XPS),Thermo Gravimetric Analysis( TGA ) and Scanning Electron Microscopy( SEM ). Moreover, the influence of polyglycidol-NS and pristine NS on the morphology and mechanical properties of PUF were studied. Then the optimal proportion was obtained. The results show that the shape of NS particles after successful-ly grafting is spherical with a diameter of 120 nm. The grafting ratio of polyglycidol was about 6%. PUF filled with NS particles after grafting decreased in cell size, which performed better in morphology. And its mechanical properties improved significantly at low contents. The specific strength and compressive modulus of PUF filled with NS particles after grafting were improved of 1. 81(MPa·cm3·g-1)and 52 MPa at 0. 5 php, respectively.
