Abstract: This work selected hematite as oxygen carrier in chemical looping gasification of biomass. The presence of hematite, gasification temperature and O/C mole ratio were investigated in a fluidized-bed reactor. Results showed that the presence of hematite resulted in the increase of carbon conversion efficiency and the decrease of syngas yield.Higher gasification temperature was favorable for the increase of both carbon conversion efficiency and syngas yield. The gas yields of CO and H2 increased with the gasification temperature, while the ones of CO2 and CH4showed a decreasing trend.Carbon conversion efficiency increased with the increase of O/C mole ratio. However, provided oxygen improved with the increase of O/C mole ratio, resulting in the decrease of syngas yield.
