Abstract: Objective To analyzed the quality of safflower in different regions by the method of multi-index and multicomponent quantitative. Methods The detection method was on the basis of impurities, water, ash, acid insoluble ash, absorbance, extract, and Hydroxysafflor yellow A under safflower ‘check’entry in Chinese pharmacopoeia( 2010edition). Results In the 23 batches of safflower produced in different regions, impurity content was 0. 2% ~ 1. 8%,moisture content was 5. 6 ~ 8. 68%,total ash content was 4. 69% ~ 22. 21%,insoluble ash content was 1. 08% ~ 14.56%,pigment absorbance was 2. 090 ~ 0. 529 4,extract content was 35. 50% ~ 43. 10%,and the content of Hydroxysafflor yellow A was 1. 08% ~ 2. 32%. Conclusion Cluster analysis was performed on safflower samples, and the results showed that when hierarchical cluster analysis was clustered into two classes, safflower of Hetian of Xinjiang province was one class belonged to substandard medicines, safflowers of other areas were one class belonged to all qualified medicines. Of the qualified medicines, samples of Changji,Yili,Tacheng of Xinjiang clustered into one class, the sample of Sichuan and Yunnan regions clustered into one class, indicating that producing areas had certain impact on comprehensive evaluation of the quality of safflower.
