Abstract: Based on Ellis’ frequency effects on second language acquisition, suggestions on English pronunciation teaching and learning have been put forward. Frequency effects should be attached great importance to English pronunciation teaching and learning. Both input frequency and output frequency are necessary, but they should be moderate to fit the characteristics of exercises and students’ level. "Practice makes perfect"does not always make sense in English pronunciation learning. Students should listen to standard English and ensure the proper input frequency before they can produce correct English themselves. Different forms of meaningful exercises and resources are encouraged to stimulate students’ potential and interests. To some exercises, intensive input and output frequency does not work well. It is suggested that explicit instruction be given to the students in order to raise their awareness and to help them realize the rules and patterns of English.
