Abstract: Most of scholars focus their studies on Canadian culture,but few of them have studied from artistic perspectives,especially the lack of sufficient attention to the role of art in the construction of national consciousness and national identity. This paper begins with landscape paintings of The Group of Seven which was rather popular in the early 20 thcentury,then scrutinizes the unique scenery of Canada by The Group of Seven,which inspires the Canadian’s love for the beautiful mountains and rivers of their motherland,propagates and strengthens national consciousness and national identity.
