Determination of Berberine Hydrochloride in Tongfeng Poultice by HPLC

Abstract: Objective To establish a method for content determination of berberine hydrochloride in Tongfeng Poultice.Methods Using HPLC method with Phenomenex C18 column(250mm×4.6 mm,4μm).The mobile phase consisted of 0.05 mol/L potassium drhydrogen phosphat and 0.05 mol/L sodium dodecylsulfate(1:1)- methanol(65:35).The detection wavelength was set at 340nm,fl ow rate being 1.0 mL·min-1 and the column temperature was room temperature.Results The linear range of berberine hydrochloride was 0.05~0.50 mg/mL.The average recovery was 99.33% and RSD 1.68%.Conclusion This method is accurate,reliable,and can provide a scientic index for controlling the quality of Tongfeng Poultice.
