Abstract: Objective To compared the effect of ultrasound combined with PICC implantation of modified seldinger technique in cephalic vein and basilic vein above the elbow. Methods Totally 60 patients were divided into basilic vein group with 30 cases and cephalic vein group with 30 cases. The incidence of thrombosis, inflammation and infection in intravenous of the two groups were statistical recorded. Results Ectopic rate of cephalic vein group reached 7. 5% while the basilic vein group didn’t occurred ectopic rate( P < 0. 01). Phlebitis incidence in the cephalic vein group was 10%while there was no occurrence in the basilic vein group( P < 0. 01). The infection rate in the cephalic vein group was 3. 3% while no infection occurred in the basilic vein group( P < 0. 01). The incidence of thrombosis in the basilic vein group was 10% while no thrombosis happened in the cephalic vein group( P < 0. 01). Conclusion The one-time success rate of catheterization, phlebitis and infection are lower of ultrasound combined with PICC implantation of modified seldinger technique in basilic vein above the elbow, but thrombosis rate is higher, cephalic vein is the opposite. Reasonable vascular puncture should be chosen in clinic.
